The first stimulus payment sent out in 2020 included 500 for dependents aged 16 and younger.

Who does the irs currently define as a qualified dependent for stimulus checks. They must be related to you blood marriage or adoption they must either be under age 19 or a full time student under 24. As with the first stimulus check children age 17 and above and dependent adults will not be eligible for the 600 dependent payout.
The checks will amount to 600 for each qualifying adult and child half the amount of the 1 200 checks sent out earlier this year. To qualify for your own stimulus check you need to have filed your 2019 taxes independently which means no one else claimed you on their taxes as a dependent. Adults and qualifying children are both eligible for up to 600 each with the second payment.
This excludes roughly 13 5 million adult dependents from. Aside from the smaller stimulus checks for adults the other major change under the bill passed by congress is the amount provided for dependent children. 600 for each dependent child.
For the stimulus payment your dependent must be under age 17. To qualify for the stimulus payment your dependent must meet the requirements of a qualifying child. The 600 per person payments are part of the stimulus bill.
